Ken Rosenberg is the lawyer who looks after Tommy Vercetti when he arrives in Vice City. He is the first person to give Tommy work, and he opens the door to the rest of the city’s criminal world.
Who he is
GameSpot’s guide describes Ken as an edgy lawyer with a serious alcohol and cocaine habit, and the review calls him Tommy’s fidgety lawyer pal. IGN’s original review saw him as a neurotic lawyer clearly modeled on Fredo from The Godfather. He is always on edge, and IGN’s guide notes that he is panicking again by the time Tommy comes back for the third job. Ken is with Tommy at the very start, and IGN explains that after the opening scene it is Ken who drives Tommy to safety before Tommy heads to the Ocean View Hotel.
Role in the story
Ken gives Tommy his first four missions from his office, marked with an L on the map:
- The Party, where Tommy gets a new suit and meets the city’s key players on Colonel Cortez’s yacht.
- Back Alley Brawl, which sends Tommy to Kent Paul for a lead.
- Jury Fury, where Tommy has to scare two jurors without killing them.
- Riot, which starts with a visit from Avery Carrington.
By the end of these jobs Tommy has met Colonel Cortez, Kent Paul, Lance Vance and Avery, and most of them soon have work for him. GameSpot sums up Ken’s role as getting Tommy connected with the people who matter.
Voice actor
Ken is voiced by William Fichtner, credited as Bill Fichtner in the game’s manual. Kotaku called his performance almost perfect.
