Rockstar’s tagline for Vice City is Everything in Excess. It notes that we are a long way from the 1980s, but Vice City is still the sun and fun capital of America: the glamour, hustle and greed of the country in a single city.

Neighbourhoods Rockstar has named

Rockstar says each neighbourhood has something to offer, and names four:

The Ultimate Edition adds Southside Vice City. Its PTT Youngin$ extra has you raid the compound of one of Southside’s loudest and most socially active gangs.

The people who run it

Rockstar calls Boobie Ike a local Vice City legend whose empire spans real estate, a strip club and a recording studio. His partner at Only Raw Records, Dre’Quan Priest, has signed the Real Dimez and has his sights on the wider Vice City scene.

What the official screenshots show

Rockstar’s Vice City stills, going by its own descriptions, include a jet flying over the Vice City sign, a crowded beach by a lifeguard stand, police handcuffing two women while a bystander takes a selfie, a skyline at night with a ferris wheel, and riders doing tricks on dirt bikes and ATVs in traffic.

Vice City and Miami

Vice City returns from earlier games in the series, most famously 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Rolling Stone describes it as Miami inspired. Writing about Trailer 1, Kotaku’s Alyssa Mercante linked its art deco shots to South Beach and its mural covered streets to Wynwood. These are the outlets’ readings; Rockstar has not named Miami.
