Can't connect? Try these first

  1. Check the official pages first

    Rockstar Support, PlayStation and Xbox each run a status page. If one shows a problem, wait for them to fix it.

  2. Check your own connection

    Run the network test in your console settings. If other online games also fail, the problem is your network, not the game.

  3. Restart the game, then the console

    Close the game fully, not just to the home screen. On PS5 and Xbox, a full restart clears most stuck sessions.

  4. Install the latest update

    Online play needs the current game version. Check for updates if you see a version or connection error.

  5. Check your membership

    Online multiplayer on console normally needs PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass. No online mode is announced for GTA 6 yet, so this matters for GTA Online for now.

Is GTA 6 down right now?

GTA 6 is not out yet, so there are no game servers to go down. It launches on November 19, 2026. After launch, this page and Rockstar's own service status page show the current state.

Will GTA 6 servers be busy at launch?

Big launches often see queues or slow logins in the first hours. Rockstar has not said anything about launch capacity, so we will report what happens on the day.

Can I play GTA 6 offline?

The UK PlayStation Store lists the game as 1 player with offline play, and Rockstar calls it a single player experience. Preloading, the first download and any updates still need an internet connection.

Do I need PlayStation Plus or Game Pass to play GTA 6 online?

Rockstar has not announced an online mode for GTA 6. If one comes, online multiplayer on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S normally needs a paid membership. The single player game does not.
