Game launchers for Rockstar games

Needs a Rockstar Games account. You sign in the first time you open it.

1. Open Rockstar's launcher page (it asks you to sign in or create a Rockstar Games account first).
2. Download the installer and run it, then pick a language and an install folder.
3. Open the launcher, sign in, and let it look for Rockstar games you already have installed.
4. Buy games in the launcher or on the Rockstar Store; they appear in your library to install.

Rockstar games bought on Steam, Epic or the Xbox app also install this launcher in the background, so most PC players end up with it either way. There is no Mac version.

Needs a Steam account. Most Rockstar games on Steam also ask you to link a Rockstar Games account.

1. Download the Steam installer for your computer and sign in or create an account.
2. Buy the Rockstar game and press Install.
3. The first time you start it, Steam also installs the Rockstar Games Launcher.
4. Sign in to the Rockstar launcher to link your accounts, then press Play.

Each Steam account can link to one Rockstar Games account. Max Payne, Max Payne 2 and Manhunt on Steam do not list a Rockstar account requirement.

Needs an Epic Games account, plus a linked Rockstar Games account for Rockstar games.

1. Install the Epic Games Launcher and sign in.
2. Buy the Rockstar game and install it; the Rockstar Games Launcher comes with it.
3. Sign in to the Rockstar launcher when asked to link the two accounts, then play.

Needs a Microsoft account, and a linked Rockstar Games account to play Rockstar games.

1. Install the Xbox app from Microsoft and sign in.
2. Buy or open the Rockstar game and install it. It asks you to install the Rockstar Games Launcher too.
3. Sign in to the Rockstar launcher and choose to link your accounts.

The app needs about 150 MB and a 720p screen. PCs in Windows S mode have to switch out of it to play games.

Needs a PlayStation account. Free.

1. Install the app on your phone and sign in with the account you use on your PS5.
2. Buy a game in the app, or open one you own, and choose to download it to your console.
3. Leave the PS5 in rest mode with internet on, and the download starts on its own.

Handy for GTA 6: you can start the preload from your phone when it opens on November 12, 2026.

Needs a Nintendo Account.

1. Open Nintendo eShop on your Switch, or shop on nintendo.com and send the download to your console.

Needs an Apple Account. Some games are free to try for 30 minutes, then unlock with a one-time purchase.

1. Search the App Store for the game, or open Rockstar's developer page, and tap Get or the price.

Needs a Google account. Trial games unlock with a one-time purchase.

1. Open Rockstar Games' page on Google Play and tap Install or the price.

Included with any Netflix plan, no extra cost.

1. Sign in to Netflix on your phone, find the game, and install it from the link Netflix gives you.

The GTA Trilogy is no longer on Netflix; it is now sold as Rockstar apps on the App Store and Google Play.
