Is the Ultimate Edition worth it?

If you plan to play for a long time, the extra $20 buys a lot: two cars, a boat, a motorcycle, a kayak, an engraved pistol each for Jason and Lucia, and five shops that stay locked otherwise. Rideout Customs and Electric Fang alone change how much you can customise.

If you only want the story, or you want a boxed copy, start with the Standard Edition. You can upgrade later from the console store, so you lose nothing by waiting.

Questions

How much is the Ultimate Edition?

$99.99, £89.99 or €99.99. That is $20 more than the Standard Edition.

Can I upgrade from Standard to Ultimate later?

Yes. Both console stores list the Ultimate Edition Upgrade as an add-on, and the Xbox Store sells it for $20.

Is the Ultimate Edition on disc?

No. It is digital only. Boxed copies are the Standard Edition, and they hold a download code rather than a disc.

When do the Ultimate extras unlock?

They are spread across Jason and Lucia’s story. The PlayStation Store says new items appear as you reach each chapter, so not everything is there from the first minute.

Do I still get the preorder bonus and GTA+?

Yes. Buy before November 20 for the Vintage Vice City Pack, and digital store purchases include one month of GTA+. The PlayStation Store notes the separate Ultimate Edition Upgrade does not count for the GTA+ offer.
