Editorial policy
How we decide what goes on TotalGTA, and how we keep it accurate.
On this page
Where our facts come from
Every fact comes from one of these, and every page lists its sources so you can check them:
- Official sources: Rockstar Games (including Rockstar Newswire and the GTA VI site), Take-Two Interactive, and the PlayStation and Xbox stores.
- Major gaming and news outlets: such as IGN, GameSpot, Eurogamer, Polygon, The Verge, Kotaku, VGC, TechRadar, GamesRadar, Variety and Bloomberg.
After launch, stats such as prices, top speeds and cheat inputs come from testing in the game. If we don't know something, we leave it blank or say so instead of guessing.
Confirmed, spotted or rumour
- Confirmed: stated by Rockstar or shown on an official store listing.
- Spotted: clearly visible in official trailers or screenshots, but not named by Rockstar. We label these.
- Rumour: reported by a major outlet but not confirmed. Rumours only appear in our rumours section, under a clear label.
How we write
We write everything in our own words and link to the original announcement. Quotes from Rockstar are kept short and marked as quotes. We aim for plain, specific English without hype.
What we never publish
- Leaked footage, or details that come from leaks
- Pirated copies, cracks, fake "PC downloads", money or account sellers, or mods that break a game's rules
- Other people's videos re-uploaded: we only use each platform's own embed, with credit
- Copied articles
Dates on our pages
News posts show the date the news was announced and the date we published our post. When we change a page, we update its date so you can see how fresh it is.
Cheat codes
We only list a cheat after checking its input against at least two reputable sources, or testing it ourselves. When sources disagree, we leave the input out until it is tested.
Creator profiles
Creator pages only cover GTA work. Links, videos and posts are checked before they go up, and follower counts are copied exactly as each platform shows them, with the date we checked.
Corrections
Found a mistake? Email hello@totalgta.com. We fix errors quickly and update the date on the page.
Independence
Ads and affiliate links never decide what we cover or recommend, and no company pays to appear on TotalGTA.
