Trevor Philips is the third of Grand Theft Auto V’s playable leads. He lives in a run down trailer in Blaine County, the rural region outside Los Santos, and he is the most unpredictable of the three.
Who he is
Rockstar told Kotaku that Trevor is the most psychopathic character the series has had, but also charming. Dan Houser told IGN that Trevor is driven by id rather than ego: a man ruled by desire and resentment who never wants to stop. TechRadar calls him the wild card of the group, a strong fighter and a good pilot.
IGN’s guide explains his past. Trevor is Canadian and joined the air force, but a poor psychological evaluation kept him from becoming a pilot. He later met Michael De Santa and the two robbed banks together. Trevor came to resent Michael after Michael settled down with Amanda.
Role in the story
Trevor runs his own criminal business in Blaine County with help from Nervous Ron and Wade, and clashes with rival gangs. His past with Michael pulls him back into Michael’s life and into the heists with Franklin and Lester.
Gameplay
Kotaku’s preview describes Trevor’s special ability as a rage mode in which he deals more damage in a fight.
Voice actor
Trevor is played by Steven Ogg, who provided both the voice and the motion capture, as reported by Kotaku. Ogg has said in a stream covered by Kotaku and PC Gamer that he shot some scenes for a planned “Agent Trevor” story expansion that Rockstar never released.
Spoiler
Franklin’s final choice decides whether Trevor survives. Kotaku reports that a line spoken by Ron in a later GTA Online update indicates Trevor is still alive, which supports the ending where all three leads survive.
