Amanda De Santa is the wife of Michael De Santa and the mother of Jimmy and Tracey. She lives with the family in their mansion in Los Santos, but the marriage is in poor shape when the story begins.
Who she is
TechRadar describes Amanda as burned out on her life. She cheats and overspends to fill the gap left by an unhappy marriage, and much of what she does comes from wanting something new. IGN’s guide notes that she met Michael while working as a stripper. Trevor’s backstory on IGN adds that Michael settling down with Amanda was one of the things that drove a wedge between the two men.
Role in the story
Amanda appears mostly in Michael’s missions and in scenes at the family home. Kotaku points to an early mission that shows Michael and Amanda trading insults, and argues that the game mocks its supporting cast, men and women alike. In the mission “Father/Son”, you borrow her convertible to chase down a boat, and IGN notes that starting that mission as Michael shows Amanda arguing with Tracey.
Her strained marriage to Michael runs alongside his return to crime and is one of the main threads of his side of the story.

IGN’s guide notes that Amanda leaves the house with Jimmy and Tracey after the mission “Did Somebody Say Yoga”. Later, in “Reuniting the Family”, Michael meets her and the family goes to therapy together. In “Meltdown”, Michael has to race home to rescue Amanda and Tracey.
