Jimmy De Santa is the son of Michael and Amanda De Santa, and the brother of Tracey. He is one of the main sources of comedy in Michael’s half of the story.
Who he is
IGN’s guide describes Jimmy as a 20 year old with no motivation who spends most of his time playing video games and getting high. TechRadar calls him a privileged, spoiled kid who would rather live out his fantasies online than deal with reality. Like his mother, he has a distant relationship with Michael and acts out against him. Kotaku points to an early scene where the game uses Jimmy to poke fun at the worst kind of player.
Role in the story
Jimmy’s bad decisions keep pulling Michael into trouble. In the mission “Father/Son”, Michael and Franklin chase a yacht along the freeway to rescue him, and the gold medal list includes rescuing Jimmy quickly. PC Gamer recalls a moment where Jimmy drugs his father, which leads to one of the game’s strangest sequences. Later on, Jimmy rides with Michael to the premiere in the mission “Meltdown”.
Despite the friction, Jimmy is part of the family storyline that runs alongside Michael’s return to crime.
