The Prologue is the first mission in Grand Theft Auto V. It is a robbery set in the snow, and it works as a tutorial: you learn to aim, take cover, switch between characters and drive under pressure. You play as Michael and briefly switch to Trevor.
Walkthrough
- Walk into the back office and aim your weapon at the staff to move them into the back room. Do not shoot them.
- When Trevor has set the charges on the vault door, use the phone to detonate them.
- Follow Trevor into the vault and pick up the cash on the floor and in the back right corner.
- When a guard grabs Michael on the way out, hold down on the d-pad, pick Trevor with the right stick and take the guard out.
- Follow the crew to the exit and stay in cover while the doors are blown. Pick off the police from the garage door, then move from pillar to pillar. Watch your left side, where officers try to flank you.
- Fight your way down the hill to the getaway car. Stay in the right lane and keep to the road, because leaving it for too long fails the mission.
- After the crash, take cover and hold off the police until the mission ends.
Gold medal tips
IGN lists no gold medal objectives for the Prologue, so any finish counts.
Two small secrets are worth a look. IGN points out smiley faces drawn in the snow on the truck windows to your left as you step outside. GamesRadar notes a frozen alien under the ice: while driving toward the train tracks, head down the right side of the hill, cross the frozen river to the spot under the bridge and look down. Be quick, or the mission fails for leaving the road.
Rewards and unlocks
Finishing the Prologue starts the main story in Los Santos with Franklin.
