The Merryweather Heist

The second heist in the story targets an item travelling with a Merryweather shipment. You pick one of two plans.

Approaches

• Freighter. Stealth and sniping at the docks. Michael plants bombs while Franklin covers him, then the item is raised from the sea floor.
• Off-shore. A helicopter job that needs the extra setup Cargobob. The crew lifts the item out at sea, then fights off a chase.

Walkthrough

Freighter:

1. Drive Franklin to the bridge over the docks, then move to the vantage point above the freighter.
2. As Franklin, snipe the two guards on the upper deck so Michael can board.
3. Michael plants the bombs. Switch to Franklin to clear guards around him as he goes.
4. When the alarm sounds, snipe the reinforcements and shoot the pilot of the helicopter that arrives.
5. Michael dives off the ship. Use the phone to detonate the bombs.
6. Underwater, follow the sonar to the item with a red light, then switch to Trevor in the sub, pick it up and take it to the marker.

Off-shore:

1. Drive to the airstrip, take the Cargobob and hook the submersible.
2. Drop the sub at the ocean marker. As Trevor, find the container with the Trackify app and attach it.
3. Surface, then switch to Michael and lift the sub again.
4. When Merryweather boats and helicopters attack, switch to Franklin and shoot them down.
5. Fly back, drop the sub at the airstrip marker and land.

Gold medal tips

• Freighter: stay as Franklin while Michael boards and aim for heads on the stairways and deck.
• Freighter: head straight down and follow the sonar to find the item inside a minute.
• Off-shore: keep the sub moving forward at a steady depth while tracking the red dot.
• Off-shore: IGN counts four boats and six helicopters in the chase. Destroy all of them for the full set.

Rewards and unlocks

GamesRadar lists the Subversive trophy or achievement for finishing the heist. After it, the Sonar Collections Dock in Paleto Cove goes on sale for $250,000, according to GamesRadar.
