Kent Paul is an English music manager in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. PC Gamer describes him as a manager of rock bands who keeps getting into trouble with biker gangs, and he is around almost from the very start of the game.
Who he is
IGN’s guide introduces him as an English record producer you find at the Malibu Club. He manages the Scottish rock band Love Fist, and GameSpot notes that much of the work Tommy does for the band is really a favor to Kent.
Role in the story
Tommy first visits him in Back Alley Brawl, sent by Ken Rosenberg to find out who was behind the failed deal. IGN’s guide explains that Tommy leans on Kent for a lead, which points him to a chef with a stolen phone and leads straight to his first meeting with Lance Vance.
Kent gives Tommy only one mission of his own, Death Row, marked with a K on the map. He calls with urgent news that Lance has been captured, and Tommy has to fight his way into a junkyard to save him. PC Gamer counts it among the hardest missions in the series. Kent also opens up the Love Fist jobs, and in the Print Works mission Spilling the Beans he is the one who points Tommy to a ship captain in Viceport.
Voice actor
Kent Paul is played by Danny Dyer, credited in the game’s manual. PC Gamer reports that Dyer called the role a highlight of his career, and joked that he could not get past his own mission. The character returns in GTA San Andreas, still managing bands.
