Casing the Jewel Store is the first step toward GTA 5’s first heist. Michael visits Vangelico for Lester and photographs its security, inside and on the roof.
Walkthrough
- On a first playthrough, Lester wants Michael in a suit. Change into any suit in Michael’s closet. On a replay, clothes do not matter.
- After the cutscene, drive to Vangelico and walk into the store to trigger a cutscene.
- Take a photo that shows the keypad, the air vent and the security camera in one shot. Lester confirms when he has what he needs.
- Leave the store and drive around the block to the southeast corner of the building under construction.
- Climb the stairs and the ladder to the roof, cross to the other side and climb to the highest point.
- Use the camera to photograph the air conditioning unit.
- Return to the car and drive back to the garment factory to choose the heist plan and finish.
Gold medal tips
- For the single photo, stand near the front door and line up the keypad, vent and camera before you take the shot. IGN’s guide shows the angle.
- Drive straight to each marker and skip cutscenes to stay inside eight minutes.

Right after the mission, Lester lays out the plans and Michael picks how to do the job.
