Las Venturas

Las Venturas is the third city in GTA San Andreas and sits at the far east of the map, beyond the sands of Bone County. GamesRadar+ calls it the fictional state’s answer to Las Vegas, and Rockstar’s own manual sells it as the gambling centre of the country, full of world class casinos and hotels.

What’s there

Casinos are the heart of the city. The manual advertises Caligula’s and The Four Dragons Casino, and IGN’s walkthrough also sends CJ to the Royal Casino on the Strip. Las Venturas Airport is, in the manual’s words, only minutes from the strip. The local gym is the Below the Belt Gym, which IGN says opens once Yay Ka-Boom-Boom gives CJ access to the city.

IGN lists five safehouses here, at Creek, Rockshore West, Redsands West, Whitewood Estates and Prickle Pine, plus four $6,000 hotel suites, at the Old Venturas Strip, Pirates in Men’s Pants, The Camel’s Toe and The Clown’s Pocket. All of them unlock after Learning to Fly. The game’s 50 Horseshoes are hidden around the city, and GamesRadar+ notes that collecting them raises CJ’s luck at the tables. Tattoos inked here lean toward playing cards and dice, according to GamesRadar+.

Story

IGN counts 19 missions in the Las Venturas chapter, split between the Syndicate strand, Caligula’s, Madd Dogg, C.R.A.S.H. and the casino heist. It begins at the Four Dragons, still under construction, where Woozie offers CJ a stake in return for dealing with the Sindacco family. Ken Rosenberg has an office inside Caligula’s, where Salvatore Leone later hands CJ a job, while Tenpenny sets up a contact point in Prickle Pine.

GamesRadar+ describes the heist on a mob casino as the city’s centerpiece, and PC Gamer felt that by the time CJ hits the strip the game plays more like a James Bond story.
