Caligula’s Palace is one of the big casinos of Las Venturas. Rockstar’s game manual pitches it with the line about playing and living like Caligula, and promises luxury suites and the best gaming in the city. In the story it belongs to the mob, and GamesRadar+ calls the heist against it the centerpiece of the Las Venturas chapter.
Ken Rosenberg’s office
CJ first reaches Caligula’s at the end of Don Peyote, when he brings Kent Paul and Maccer back from the desert and meets Ken Rosenberg, his new inside contact. Rosenberg runs things from an office inside the casino, and IGN’s walkthrough sends CJ there for Intensive Care, The Meat Business, Freefall and Saint Mark’s Bistro. The last of these comes with praise and a new job from Salvatore Leone.
The heist
Woozie plans the robbery from The Four Dragons Casino, and the build up runs through several missions:
- Architectural Espionage: photograph Caligula’s blueprints at the planning department.
- Key to Her Heart: win over croupier Millie Perkins to get her keycard.
- Dam and Blast: parachute onto the dam that powers the city and plant charges on its generators so the power can be cut.
- Cop Wheels and Up, Up and Away!: gather police bikes and lift an armored van by helicopter.
In Breaking the Bank at Caligula’s, CJ walks in unarmed and has four minutes to get his crew inside. He uses the keycard, gasses a room through a vent, works through the basement in the dark with night vision and blows the generators so the vault opens. After the crew leave with the money, he escapes over the rooftops by parachute and helicopter. IGN puts the reward at $100,000.
