Kent Paul is a British music manager who also appears in GTA Vice City. PC Gamer describes him as a manager of rock bands with a habit of getting into trouble, and in San Andreas he is still at it, this time alongside Maccer.
Who he is
CJ finds Paul and Maccer in “Don Peyote”, a mission from The Truth. The Truth admits he took a British band up to Arco del Oeste to take peyote and watch the sunset, and CJ has to go and collect them, starting with Paul and Maccer. You need a car with four seats, a stop at a snake farm goes badly with the locals, and the trip ends outside Caligula’s Palace in Las Venturas.
Role in the story
That drop off is where CJ is introduced to Ken Rosenberg, his new inside contact at the casino. GameSpot’s guide adds that Kent Paul then calls CJ and passes on missions on Ken’s behalf, so Paul acts as a go between for the Caligula’s jobs that follow.
Voice actor
The game’s manual credits Danny Dyer as Kent Paul, and IGN’s cast list agrees. PC Gamer reports that Dyer, best known in the UK for playing hard men in films and for EastEnders, called the role the highlight of his career in a British GQ interview. He also said he found Vice City’s mission “Death Row”, the one mission Paul gives in that game, too hard to finish.
