Mount Chiliad is the great peak of Blaine County. The Guardian says it stands 2,619 feet above sea level, making it the tallest mountain in San Andreas, and that you can see it from almost anywhere in the county. Rockstar’s own 2013 travelogue invited visitors to hike to its peak. The mountain first appeared in GTA San Andreas, and IGN notes that its base meets the shore of the Alamo Sea.
Getting to the top
Steep dirt trails lead up the slopes, or you can ride the aerial tramway from Pala Springs. IGN lists the cable car fare as $10 and says two cars run on the line at once, so if you miss one the next arrives in about two minutes. On a clear day the Guardian says you can see the skyscrapers of downtown Los Santos from the summit. Watch for mountain lions if you walk.
What’s there
- Epsilon tracts: GamesRadar+ lists the first tract on the observation deck at the summit, another at a door inside the tunnel that runs through the mountain, and a third elsewhere on the mountain.
- Letter Scrap: on the catwalk at the front of the gondola station at the top.
- The Chiliad mural: GamesRadar+ describes a strange piece of art inside the top tram station that started the long running Mount Chiliad mystery among players.
- A face on the mountainside that many players believe resembles a Breaking Bad character, per GamesRadar+.
The forests around the mountain are covered on the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness page.
Story missions
In Minor Turbulence, the Merryweather plane Trevor is chasing flies toward Mount Chiliad, and once the radar limit lifts he can climb to normal height to catch it.
