Los Santos is the city where most of Grand Theft Auto V takes place. The Guardian described it in 2013 as a working metropolis modeled closely on Los Angeles, and Dan Houser told the paper that Rockstar spent at least 100 days in Los Angeles on research trips while building it.
Size
Houser told The Guardian that the map is bigger than the maps of GTA IV, GTA San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption put together, a claim Kotaku also reported from Rockstar before launch. GamesRadar+ gives the full map as 29.28 square miles, or 75.84 square kilometers, which includes the countryside of Blaine County.
Districts
IGN’s guide splits the city into broad zones. The center is a cluster of high rise towers ringed by freeways and the river, the north is the wealthy hill country, the south mixes poorer neighborhoods with beaches, the east holds industrial zones, and the west runs out to the coast and its tourist spots.
Rockstar’s 2013 visitor’s travelogue for the game pointed tourists to the high street shops of Rockford Hills, the hipster scene in Hawick, the street performers of Vinewood Boulevard and the LS Customs car shops.
