Downtown Los Santos is the high rise business center of Los Santos. GamesRadar+ described it before launch as a financial district full of towering skyscrapers, including a building that looks a lot like the Capitol Records tower. GameSpot’s review summed up the city as a mix of ritzy downtown areas and gangland ghettos.
Los Santos Tower
The tallest landmark is the Los Santos Tower, which GamesRadar+ calls a hulking 94 story block of limestone and granite. In the Definitive Edition the fog of the original is gone, so from its roof you can see across most of the state: Flint County and Whetstone to the west, San Fierro along the coast to the north, and the lights of Las Venturas far to the east. GamesRadar+ argues that the clear view makes the map feel smaller than players remember.
What’s there
- Tags: IGN lists three Downtown Los Santos tags. The first is at the top of a set of odd sideways staircases, and the other two are found by heading toward a red and white “Homies” billboard.
- Unique jumps: IGN places Downtown Jump #1 north of the clothing shop and Jump #2 north of The Well Stacked Pizza Co.
Story
Big Smoke’s mission Just Business brings CJ downtown. IGN’s walkthrough suggests picking up pistol ammo from Emmet first, then driving Smoke downtown, where a cutscene leads into a shootout with Russian gangsters. The two then escape on a motorbike, with CJ firing an SMG at the bikes, cars and truck chasing them.
