San Fierro is the second city CJ reaches in GTA San Andreas. GamesRadar+ confirmed in 2004 that it is based on San Francisco, and its preview picked out the hilly streets, the bay, the many bridges and a changeable climate with rolling fog. The city sits on the west coast, north of Flint County and Whetstone. Rockstar’s manual calls it a city with an eclectic artist community.
What’s there
Safehouses open up once the countryside mission Are You Going to San Fierro? is done. IGN lists them in Chinatown, Doherty, Paradiso, Hashbury and Calton Heights, plus a $50,000 suite at the Vank Hoff in the Park hotel in Queens. Several businesses can become CJ’s assets here, among them Wang Cars, the Zero RC shop, the Hippy Shopper and the Vank Hoff hotel.
The city’s gym, spelled Cobra Marital Arts in Rockstar’s manual, teaches a kung fu style, and the manual boasts of the best Sensei this side of Chinatown. Easter Bay Airport sits on the bay, and the manual promises a view of the Gant Bridge on take off. The 50 Snapshots, a collectible worth $100 each, are spread in and around San Fierro.
Story
IGN counts 27 missions in the San Fierro chapter, split into strands for CJ himself, the Syndicate, Jizzy B, C.R.A.S.H., Woozie, Zero, the driving school and Cesar. GamesRadar+ notes that San Fierro’s missions focus on cars far more than the other cities do, which suits its steep streets. CJ moves on to Tierra Robada and the desert once this chapter is over.
