The Galileo Observatory stands high in the Vinewood Hills above Los Santos. The Guardian says it was inspired by the famous Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, and that it gives dramatic views of the city below.

What’s there

The observatory shares the hills with the Vinewood sign and the mansions of the Vinewood Hills. It is the place to take in the view over the city that the Guardian describes.

Collectible hunters have reasons to visit. GamesRadar+ places one Monkey Mosaic on a side wall on the observatory roof (PS4, Xbox One and later versions only). A Letter Scrap waits at a Big O stand at the top of the large hill just north of the observatory, reached on foot by a trail.

Story missions

Caida Libre starts with a drive up to the observatory. According to IGN’s walkthrough, the van with the special weapon is parked near the grassy area there, and you use it for the sniping section that follows. The mission is played by Michael and Trevor.
