Michael and Franklin chase a yacht along the freeway to rescue Michael's son Jimmy, then return Amanda's car in one piece.

Father/Son is the first mission where Michael and Franklin work together. Michael’s son Jimmy ends up on a yacht heading along the freeway, and the pair chase it in Amanda’s convertible.
Walkthrough
- Get into Amanda’s convertible and head for the lower beachside freeway. At the marker, Michael spots the yacht.
- Pull up close enough for Franklin to jump onto the boat.
- Stay on the yacht’s tail. When Franklin calls for it, shoot the men on board with drive by fire through the windshield.
- When Jimmy is left hanging from the mast, drive under the marker and wait for him to drop into the car.
- Get close to the boat again so Franklin can jump back onto the car.
- The engine fails, so turn around and drive to Los Santos Customs for a free repair.
- Drive the repaired car back to Michael’s house without a scratch to finish.
Gold medal tips
- To catch Jimmy inside 10 seconds, get right under the marker early and make sure the road ahead is clear so you do not have to brake hard. IGN advises third person view on PS4, Xbox One and PC, as first person makes the catch harder to time.
- The no damage objective only starts after the repair. Drive slowly and carefully on the way home.
- IGN notes that if you start the mission as Michael, you see an extra cutscene at the house that is skipped if you start as Franklin. It is not available on a replay.
Rewards and unlocks
GamesRadar notes that after Father/Son, Michael can visit the Epsilon Program website and fill in its evaluation form, which starts the Epsilon side missions.
