The Da Nang Thang is the fifth mission from Woozie and follows Amphibious Assault. It starts as an on rails shooting section from a helicopter and turns into a close quarters fight through a ship off San Fierro.
Walkthrough
- After talking to Woozie, CJ boards a helicopter with a minigun. Shoot the guards marked with red arrows on the ship.
- A guard with a rocket launcher brings the helicopter down. CJ lands in the water with only a knife.
- Climb the ladder onto the ship. Quietly take out the guard next to you and take his shotgun.
- Deal with the two guards standing on the cargo containers, then follow the yellow blip, fighting through the crew.
- Drop into the hold and step into the red marker for a cutscene.
- Clear the hold. The guard watching the prisoners is marked in red and opens with a grenade. Run clear, then shoot him.
- Shoot the padlock on the container to free the people inside.
- Head up to the bridge, deal with the last guards and beat the old man who challenges CJ with a katana.
- Follow the blue blip to meet the freed group and end the mission.
Tips
- GameSpot’s advice is to pick up body armor before starting. The helicopter section can’t be won, so don’t worry about it.
- There is a health pickup in one of the small passages on the way down to the hold.
- For the grenade guard, step into his view to trigger the throw, back away from the blast, then return to finish him.
- In the katana fight, GameSpot suggests a kick to stun him before attacking. IGN says two quick swings are enough.
