Taxi

The Taxi is one of the cabs of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. IGN groups it with the game’s three other cabs: the Cabbie, the Kaufman Cab and the Zebra Cab. All four can start the Taxi Driver vehicle mission.

Where to find it

Taxis are part of everyday traffic. GameSpot’s guide notes that stop lights are the easiest place to take a car, since you can only pull a driver out when the car is stopped or moving slowly. Once inside, press the vehicle mission button to start.

Taxi Driver

Taxi Driver is one of the classic side jobs that GameSpot’s review says returned from GTA III.

• Find a fare (a pink arrow points to them) and take them to the destination shown on the radar before time runs out.
• The timer resets each time you pick up someone new, and IGN says arriving faster earns a bigger tip.
• Vice City is fairly forgiving about reckless driving here, but IGN still recommends knowing the city’s back streets, so it can pay to leave this until you know the map. Start with a low wanted level.
• The fares don’t have to be in a row. GameSpot notes that the 100 total add up over the whole game.

At 100 fares, IGN and GameSpot both say every taxi gains a boost jump, and finishing the mission counts toward 100% completion. IGN also lists a Point A to Point B achievement for reaching 25 fares.

Kaufman Cabs and the Zebra Cab

If you want the best cab for the job, IGN recommends the Zebra Cab, which has the highest top speed and the best handling and acceleration of the four. It only appears at the Kaufman Cabs depot in Little Haiti after you buy Kaufman Cabs for $40,000 and finish its three missions, ending with Cabmageddon.

Top speed

We don’t list a top speed because we haven’t found a measured or official figure from an allowed source.
