Take-Two Interactive, the company that owns Rockstar Games, reports its numbers every quarter. With GTA 6 three weeks away, those reports are the best official guide to how the series is selling and what the publisher expects from the new game. All figures below come from Take-Two’s own press releases and SEC filings.

GTA V: over 230 million units

Take-Two’s latest quarterly filing (Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, published alongside results on August 7, 2026) says Grand Theft Auto V “has sold-in over 230 million units worldwide”. That count includes GTA Online, which comes with the game.

For comparison, the annual report for the year ended March 31, 2026 put the figure at over 225 million. So GTA V added roughly 5 million more units in a single quarter, almost 13 years after it first came out in 2013.

The same filing says the Grand Theft Auto series as a whole has sold in over 470 million units.

A note on wording: “sold-in” is the number of copies shipped or sold to retailers and digital stores, not necessarily copies bought by players. It is the measure Take-Two uses in all its filings.

Red Dead Redemption 2: more than 85 million

Rockstar’s other big seller keeps growing too. The June-quarter filing says Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold in more than 85 million units worldwide, up from more than 80 million in the annual report three months earlier.

Latest results: fiscal Q1 2027

Take-Two’s fiscal year runs from April to March, so the quarter from April to June 2026 is its “fiscal first quarter 2027”. The headline numbers:

MeasureQ1 fiscal 2027Take-Two’s guidance
Net bookings$1.386 billion$1.32 to $1.37 billion
GAAP net revenue$1.534 billion$1.45 to $1.50 billion
GAAP net loss$34 million$27 to $42 million

Net bookings, Take-Two’s preferred sales measure, were down 3% on the same quarter a year earlier but came in slightly above the company’s own forecast. Take-Two said this mainly reflected better-than-expected performance from NBA 2K and the Grand Theft Auto series. Recurrent consumer spending (money players spend after buying a game, such as in-game purchases) on the GTA series grew 3%.

Grand Theft Auto products made up 12.8% of Take-Two’s net revenue for the quarter, according to the 10-Q.

What Take-Two expects from GTA 6

Take-Two has not given a sales target for GTA 6 on its own. What it has done is build the launch into its forecast for the full fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2027:

  • Net bookings: $8.0 to $8.2 billion, reiterated in August. Take-Two says that is about 20% growth on fiscal 2026 ($6.72 billion) at the midpoint, and would be a record.
  • GAAP net revenue: $7.9 to $8.1 billion.
  • Operating cash flow: over $1 billion.

In the results release, Take-Two linked this outlook to positive trends in its business and “excitement around the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI”. Its results slides also assume the Grand Theft Auto series’ recurrent consumer spending will rise over the year.

The 10-Q confirms the November 19, 2026 date on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and notes that pre-orders began in June 2026. Rockstar’s pre-order announcement set prices at $79.99 for the standard edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition.

Next earnings date: November 9, 2026

Take-Two will report results for its fiscal second quarter (July to September 2026) after the US stock market closes on Monday, November 9, 2026. A conference call follows at 4:30pm Eastern Time, with a live webcast at take2games.com/ir.

That call falls ten days before GTA 6 launches. Because the quarter it covers ends on September 30, it will not include any GTA 6 launch sales. Those will show up in the October to December quarter, which Take-Two normally reports in early February. The company has not yet announced that date.

Take-Two’s own forecast for the July to September quarter was net bookings of $1.62 to $1.67 billion.

What we will watch for

  • A new GTA V sold-in figure in the next 10-Q.
  • Whether Take-Two keeps, raises or lowers its $8.0 to $8.2 billion full-year forecast.
  • Any comment on GTA 6 pre-orders, which Take-Two has not quantified in its filings.

We will update this page after the November 9 results.
