Officer Eddie Pulaski is the second half of the crooked police double act that hangs over Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. He works alongside Frank Tenpenny in C.R.A.S.H., and GamesRadar’s review calls him Tenpenny’s truly despicable sidekick.
Who he is
Pulaski is there from the very start. The game opens with a cutscene that introduces Tenpenny and Pulaski before CJ is left on the street with only a BMX, and Rockstar’s own summary of the story describes a couple of cops framing CJ for homicide.
Role in the story
Pulaski doesn’t hand out jobs himself. The work comes through Tenpenny, and IGN’s walkthrough groups it as C.R.A.S.H. missions, which run through every part of the map: “Burning Desire” and “Gray Imports” in Los Santos, “Badlands” in the countryside, “Snail Trail” in San Fierro, and “Misappropriation” and “High Noon” in Las Venturas. In “Misappropriation” CJ is once again a pawn in a cover up, sent to kill an agent who holds evidence against Tenpenny.
Voice actor
The game’s manual credits Chris Penn as Officer Eddie Pulaski. GameSpot’s 2004 cast report introduced him as Tenpenny’s partner and noted Penn’s role in Reservoir Dogs. GamesRadar’s 2004 preview and IGN’s cast list name him as well.
Spoiler
“High Noon” is Pulaski’s last scene. IGN’s guide explains that Tenpenny turns on Jimmy Hernandez in the desert and leaves Pulaski to watch CJ dig his grave. When Hernandez fights back, Pulaski shoots him, then flees. CJ chases him out of the valley and onto the highway, and once Pulaski’s car is wrecked, CJ finishes him off in a cutscene.
