Rockstar’s tagline for Cal: what if everything on the internet was true?
Who he is
Cal is Jason’s friend and a fellow associate of Brian Heder. He feels safest at home, snooping on Coast Guard comms with a few beers and some private browser tabs open. One of his lines on his official profile gives a sense of his worldview: “There are way too many birds flying around in perfect formation.”
Rockstar says Cal is at the low tide of America and happy there. Casual paranoia loves company, but Jason has bigger plans.
What outlets made of him
When Rockstar introduced the cast alongside Trailer 2 in May 2025, both TechRadar and GamesRadar described Cal as a conspiracy theorist. TechRadar suggested his laid back, lazy streak will contrast with Jason’s ambition. GamesRadar wondered whether he could fill a role like Lester Crest from GTA 5, though that is the outlet’s guess, not something Rockstar has said.
Official screenshots
Most of Rockstar’s images of Cal show him with Jason:
- At a bar with beers, with two men watching them from the background
- Playing pool in a bar
- Walking side by side, each carrying a duffel bag
- On a boat, with Jason holding a fishing rod and Cal looking through binoculars
Others show Cal alone or with strangers: playing mini golf at a course decorated with fake alligators, and lying on a flamingo float in a pool full of floating cans.
Connections
Cal’s only confirmed links are to Jason and Brian. Rockstar has not tied him to Lucia or the other characters.
What we don’t know yet
Rockstar has not said whether Cal gives missions or joins jobs, and he was not mentioned in the outlet coverage of An Extended Look that we checked. His voice actor has not been confirmed.
