Sandy Shores is a small town in the Grand Senora Desert of Blaine County, which The Guardian lists alongside the Alamo Sea as the desert’s main features. The paper describes the desert around it as barren, sweltering scrubland and a favorite spot for drug dealers and outlaw biker gangs.
What’s there
The most useful spot in town is the Sandy Shores airfield, which the story uses as a base for flights. Around it, GamesRadar+ lists:
- Letter Scrap: on top of a large round rock near the south airstrip.
- Letter Scrap: on the roof of the Stoner Cement Works plant just west of the airfield, reached by a ladder.
- Two Monkey Mosaics in Sandy Shores (PS4, Xbox One and later versions only).
- An easter egg on the satellite tower: the circuit box is labeled 1.21 GW, a nod to Back to the Future.
Story missions
IGN’s walkthrough uses the airfield in several missions:
- Surveying the Score: drive to the airfield, take the Frogger helicopter and fly to the city to identify the security vans.
- Monkey Business: Trevor flies the stolen container back to the airfield and drops it onto a flatbed truck.
- Bury the Hatchet: if you start as Trevor, you drive to the airfield and fly the plane to North Yankton, then land back here at the end.
