The Rhino is a working battle tank. IGN’s guide says its cannon can wreck any unarmored vehicle with a single shot, and that it is very slow but extremely durable. Heavy explosive weapons can still damage it, so it is not invincible.
Where to find it in Story Mode
IGN says Rhinos patrol inside Fort Zancudo, the military base on the west side of the map. PC Gamer’s guide to the base also names it as the place to get your hands on a tank.
IGN describes how to take one:
- You can hijack a Rhino on foot like any other vehicle. Your character pulls the driver out through the top hatch, which takes a few seconds and leaves you exposed to gunfire.
- A tank patrols the main road of the base. One approach is to wait outside the gate until it rolls past, then chase it down and take it.
Expect a four star wanted level near the base, according to PC Gamer.
In the story
Rhinos also appear as enemies. In The Paleto Score, IGN’s walkthrough notes that tanks roll in as the crew fights its way through Paleto Bay.
Keeping one
IGN notes you can store a Rhino in a player owned vehicle storage property.

Fort Zancudo also holds the P-996 Lazer and Mammoth Hydra jets and the Cargobob and Buzzard helicopters.
