Yes, the songs in GTA 6’s trailers keep selling long after the first spike. UK chart data shows Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road” was still selling 18.2 times its old weekly level 11 months after Trailer 1. Two songs from An Extended Look were still well up five weeks after it aired.
The figures come from the Official Charts Company, the body behind the UK charts. It pulled them from Official Charts Pro, its new data platform, and Music Ally published them on November 3. Below are the numbers trailer by trailer, plus streaming data from Spotify and Luminate where it exists. For which song plays in which trailer, see our GTA 6 trailer songs guide.

Trailer 1: Tom Petty, a year later
Confirmed In the week after Trailer 1 came out in December 2023, UK sales of “Love Is a Long Road” were 243.7 times what they had been before, according to the Official Charts Company. Its sales figure counts streams, downloads and physical copies together.
The part that is new this week is what happened next. By November 2024, 11 months later, the song’s average weekly sales were still 18.2 times its pre-trailer level. Average weekly consumption of Petty’s albums was 42% higher than before the trailer.
At the time, Spotify told IGN that streams of the song were up 36,979% on the week before, with over 11 million plays by December 6, 2023, as Kotaku reported.
Analysis A spike the week a record-breaking trailer comes out is expected. Still selling 18 times more a year later means a 1989 album track found listeners who stayed.
Trailer 2: Hot Together
Confirmed The music data company Luminate tracked “Hot Together” across global on-demand audio streams. Before Trailer 2 in May 2025, the 1986 song averaged about 3,900 streams a week. That rose to 1.2 million in the trailer’s week and peaked at 2.9 million the week after. Eight weeks on, it had almost 9.6 million streams in total, against nearly 300,000 across all of 2024.
The new Official Charts figures don’t include “Hot Together”. They cover Tom Petty and two songs from An Extended Look.
An Extended Look: Inner Light and Devil Woman
Rockstar’s 26 minute gameplay showcase premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026, then went up on YouTube. Our Extended Look breakdown covers the video itself.
Confirmed “Inner Light” by Elderbrook and Bob Moses first came out in 2021. After the showcase it made its first UK top 40, reaching No. 29 on the Official Singles Sales Chart dated September 10, 2026. Its Official Charts page also lists No. 26 on the downloads chart and No. 20 on the dance singles chart. Over the five weeks after the showcase, its average weekly consumption was 7.9 times its old level and downloads 15.4 times. In week five it was still at 5.1 times.
Confirmed Cliff Richard’s “Devil Woman” averaged 6.4 times its old weekly consumption over the same five weeks, and was still at 4.3 times in week five.
On Spotify the biggest jump from the showcase went to Captain & Tennille’s “But I Think It’s a Dream”, Music Ally reported in September.
Launch Trailer: Flower in a Hurricane
The Launch Trailer works differently. Its song is a new single: “Flower in a Hurricane” by Justice with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, released with the trailer on October 15. Rockstar’s music page names Justice as the game’s original score composers.
Confirmed Its Official Charts page shows it has spent two weeks on the Official Singles Chart, peaking at No. 31. It reached No. 9 on the singles sales chart, No. 6 on the downloads chart, No. 71 on the streaming chart and No. 35 on the Irish singles chart.
Analysis No. 6 on downloads but No. 71 on streaming suggests fans bought the song outright rather than adding it to their usual playlists. The score itself comes out on December 11; see GTA 6 Original Score by Justice.
Why the older songs last
The Official Charts Company’s interim co-managing director Chris Austin said games now rival film, TV and social media as a way people find music. His fellow co-managing director Becca Monahan said the figures show older songs can catch on with younger listeners. She also pointed to EA Sports FC, Fortnite and Roblox as other games tied closely to music.
Analysis Rockstar tends to pick deep cuts rather than hits, and that is why the multipliers look so big: 3,900 streams a week leaves a lot of room to grow. The big percentages are the headline, but the lasting part is the better evidence. Songs still selling five weeks or eleven months later were picked up by new listeners, not just looked up once.
What comes next
GTA 6 launches on November 19 together with GTA 6: The Album, 34 new tracks made for the game. That will be the first test of what the in-game radio does to streaming, as opposed to a single song in a trailer. Our radio stations page lists what Rockstar has confirmed so far.
Common questions
Are the trailer songs on the in-game radio?
Not announced Rockstar has not said whether the songs from Trailer 1, Trailer 2 or An Extended Look play on the radio in the game.
What is Official Charts Pro?
It is the Official Charts Company’s new data platform for the music industry. The company used it to pull the GTA 6 figures that Music Ally published.
