In the Beginning is the short opening section of San Andreas. IGN notes it is not really a mission in its own right: it introduces Carl Johnson and a few of the people he will deal with for the rest of the game, then points you home to start the first proper job.
Walkthrough
- Watch the opening cutscene. When you get control of CJ, climb onto the bike next to him.
- Check the radar in the corner of the screen. A yellow line shows the route to follow.
- Ride along the line to CJ’s house on Grove Street, marked with a “CJ” icon.
- Step into the red marker by the front steps to start the next mission.
Tips
- There is no time limit, so you can look around the neighbourhood before stepping into the marker. Entering it starts the first mission straight away.
- GameSpot suggests riding the bike rather than taking a car, because you will need bike handling in the very next mission. If you are in a hurry, you can take a car from the road and head south to the CJ icon instead.
Rewards and unlocks
Reaching the house unlocks the first story mission. Once that is done, you can enter the house to save the game.
Next: Big Smoke.
