A new clip of GTA 6 gameplay aired inside an episode of South Park this week, and it shows Jason using dog mess as a weapon in a street fight. The footage runs about 20 to 25 seconds, appears in the season 29 episode “Guinea Pig on a Stick” on Comedy Central, and the episode’s credits give a special thanks to Rockstar Games.

There was no announcement beforehand. Viewers found it while watching the episode, and Kotaku and GamesRadar wrote it up on October 29.

What the clip shows: the dog poop fight

Observed As GamesRadar describes it, a dog relieves itself on the ground and a passer-by picks up the mess. Jason throws something at that pedestrian to start a fight, then grabs the dog mess himself and hits them in the face with it, to their obvious horror. Kotaku sums it up the same way: dogs in GTA 6 really do go to the toilet, and you can pick up what they leave and use it in a fight.

It is a silly clip, but it shows the kind of small systems Rockstar keeps adding: an animal, a pedestrian with their own reaction, and an object Jason can pick up and use. Kotaku points out that horses could already do their business in Red Dead Redemption 2.

A nod to GTA 5’s marketing

In the episode, a woman narrates the footage with great excitement. GamesRadar reports she is voiced by Tish Hicks, who also narrated the official GTA 5 gameplay video in July 2013. Long-time fans will recognise the style.

Why there’s no video here

We only embed official videos. This clip was shown on TV, not on Rockstar’s own channels, so we describe it instead of linking copies that other people uploaded. If Rockstar posts it officially, we will add it here.

It fits what Edge saw

On October 29, the same day the clip was reported, Edge’s big GTA 6 preview went online, and it includes a related detail. Aaron Garbut of Rockstar North told Edge about a house he wandered into where a dog had made a mess while left alone; Jason pulled a face and recoiled without any scripted scene, because a disgust reaction first made for one specific location has become a general system (GamesRadar). Our Edge preview guide covers the rest of what Edge learned.

Our take

Analysis Putting a gameplay clip inside a South Park episode three weeks before launch reaches a big TV audience, including people who don’t follow games news. And choosing a gross, funny moment over a big action scene fits the show perfectly.
