The Shamal is one of the planes CJ can fly in GTA San Andreas. IGN’s vehicle guide keeps its verdict short: it is a perfectly average plane. That is not a criticism. IGN explains that it tilts at a moderate pace, neither too stiff nor too loose, which makes it a steady choice next to the Dodo, a plane IGN says tilts heavily.
Where to find it
IGN says the Shamal can be found at all of the major airports, including Los Santos International.
Airports are much easier to use once CJ has a pilot’s license. IGN’s Pilot School guide says you earn it by completing the first three Pilot School tests with at least a bronze medal, and that the license gives access to every airport in the game. The Pilot School is at the Verdant Meadows Airstrip in Bone County and opens after the mission Learning to Fly.
How it handles
IGN describes a balanced plane with a moderate tilt. The Pilot School tips for its own planes still help here:
- Keep the throttle down on take off and lift the nose gently.
- Ease off the throttle and change direction slowly in turns, rather than making harsh inputs.
- Hold the brake on landing, make sure the landing gear is down and keep the nose up a little.
