Nobody outside Rockstar knows how GTA 6 ends yet, and this page doesn’t pretend to. The game comes out on November 19, 2026. What Rockstar has said is that your choices count: how close you keep Jason and Lucia, and what kind of criminals they become, both shape how their story plays out. After launch we’ll add a full ending explanation here, behind a clear spoiler warning.

Not announced Rockstar hasn’t said how many endings GTA 6 has, whether there’s a final choice like GTA 5’s, or what happens to Jason and Lucia.

No spoilers, no leaks

Everything below comes from Rockstar’s own pages, its official trailers and interviews with major outlets. We don’t use leaked footage or anything taken from it. If you see a post claiming to reveal the ending before launch, it is either a guess or a leak, and either way it isn’t confirmed. If you want to go in fresh, mute words like “GTA 6 ending” on social media until you’ve finished.

Where the story starts

Confirmed Rockstar’s official summary says Jason and Lucia have always known “the deck is stacked against them”. When an easy score goes wrong, they end up in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across Leonida, and have to rely on each other more than ever to make it out alive.

Rockstar’s character pages set up what each of them wants:

  • Lucia wants the good life her mom has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City. Fresh out of prison, Rockstar says, she’s committed to her plan “no matter what it takes”, and “a life with Jason could be her way out.”
  • Jason “wants an easy life, but things just keep getting harder.” Rockstar says meeting Lucia “could be the best or worst thing to ever happen to him”, and that Jason knows how he’d like it to turn out, but right now it’s hard to tell.

Analysis Both profiles end on an open question. Rockstar is framing the couple’s future, and whether they make it together, as what the story is about. Our story explainer covers the whole setup.

What the trailers say

Observed These lines come from Rockstar’s official trailers, as reported. Rockstar hasn’t said where any scene falls in the story.

  • Trailer 1: Kotaku reported Lucia, asked why she’s locked up, answering “Bad luck, I guess.” By the end she tells her partner the only way through is sticking together, and the two agree to trust each other.
  • Launch Trailer: TechRadar said it opens with Jason talking about his Army days and shows him taking a call from Lucia in prison. TechRadar read this as a prologue from Jason’s side, and spotted Lucia wearing an ankle monitor, which it took as a sign some footage is from early in the story.

Breakdowns of every trailer: Trailer 1, Trailer 2, An Extended Look and the Launch Trailer.

What shapes the ending

Their relationship

Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson told IGN, as GamesRadar reported, that Jason and Lucia “will remain partners in crime” however you treat them. But whether you’ve nurtured the relationship “will definitely have a bearing on how their story plays out.”

Edge’s preview adds that their closeness is measured on a four-point scale, and quotes Nelson: the story starts with them wanting to give the relationship another shot, but “as the game progresses, it’s yours to keep or yours to lose.”

The Criminal Profile

Edge also describes a Criminal Profile that tracks Jason and Lucia’s behaviour on a scale from “Professional” to “Irredeemable”. Knocking someone out instead of killing them, or using threats before violence, keeps you professional; shooting first makes the profile violent. Edge says Rockstar told it the profile will influence how the story unfolds.

Bigger consequences than before

GamesRadar reported, citing an interview in Dazed, that choices in GTA 6 cause larger ripples than Red Dead Redemption 2’s honor system. It quoted Nelson saying the characters “aren’t empty avatars” and that “their story becomes a journey you share with them.”

Analysis Put together: expect the ending to reflect how you played, not only a choice at the end. How exactly, and whether there are separate endings, is not announced.

A theme to watch: getting out

Edge says quitting crime is “a fundamental theme” of the story. Earlier GTA games were about piling up money, cars and status. Nelson told Edge that GTA 6 asks what happens if the characters “want something else”. Lucia’s profile, with Jason as “her way out”, points the same way.

Analysis That doesn’t tell you whether they get out. It tells you that’s the question the ending is likely to answer.

How GTA 5 and RDR2 ended

History, for context. It doesn’t tell us anything about GTA 6’s ending, and this section avoids details.

  • GTA 5 let the player make one big choice near the end, with three options. GamesRadar reported in 2021 that GTA Online’s The Contract update seemed to make the third option the canonical one. GamesRadar has also said that, apart from that final mission, GTA 5’s choices mostly affected your wallet.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 had four endings for Arthur Morgan, depending on a late choice and on his honor, as his actor Roger Clark explained. GamesRadar says the honor system subtly changed cutscenes and shook up the finale, though the overall story stayed the same.

Analysis Rockstar’s last two big story games both let the way you played reach the ending. Edge says RDR2 had “a profound influence” on GTA 6’s narrative ambitions, so we’d be surprised if GTA 6 had one fixed ending. But that is our reading, not something Rockstar has said.

How long until the ending?

Not announced Rockstar hasn’t given an official story length. One developer’s own playthrough took about 80 hours with some optional goals, as covered in our story explainer.

What happens to this page after launch

From November 19 we’ll play to the end and add a full explanation: how the story ends, what decides it, and how to see other outcomes if there are any. It will sit under a clear spoiler warning, and the spoiler-free part of this page will stay above it.
