Rockstar has released four official GTA 6 videos, and each one hides small details that are easy to miss at full speed. We went through what the major outlets picked out frame by frame and kept the best 26. Each line names the video, gives a timestamp only where the outlet states one, and credits who spotted it. Where an outlet is guessing, we say so.
The four videos, with a full breakdown of each:
- Trailer 1 (December 4, 2023, 1:31)
- Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025, 2:47)
- An Extended Look (August 27, 2026, 26:48)
- Launch Trailer (October 15, 2026, 1:29)
Easter eggs and callbacks to older games
- Tommy Vercetti’s shirt on a lizard. Trailer 2, 0:33: as Jason backhands a store clerk, a lizard wall ornament behind him wears a blue floral shirt that fans believe is Tommy Vercetti’s from Vice City. Spotted by YouTuber TheGameVerse, reported by TechRadar (via IGN).
- A classic Sentinel. An Extended Look: Jason and Lucia drive an old convertible Sentinel, which GamesRadar called a callback to the 2002 Vice City. More comparisons are in our new vs 2002 Vice City guide.
- Righteous Slaughter is still going. An Extended Look: a character called San4San wears a “Righteous Slaughter: Hood Ops” T-shirt. GamesRadar linked it to Righteous Slaughter 7, the shooter Jimmy plays in GTA V, and noted the shirt also appears briefly in Trailer 1.
- A Fleeca Bank sticker. An Extended Look: Jason’s fridge door carries a Fleeca Bank sticker, a bank brand that turns up across the series. Spotted by GamesRadar.
- GTA IV’s weapon icon returns. An Extended Look: the equipped weapon icon sits in the top right corner under the wanted stars, as it did in GTA IV. Spotted by TechRadar.
- One more wanted star. An Extended Look: the wanted meter goes up to six stars, one more than GTA V. Reported by TechRadar.
- Old Vice City, updated. Trailer 1: GamesRadar thought a couple of shots looked like new takes on Starfish Island and the original Ocean Beach area. This is the outlet’s reading, not something Rockstar has confirmed.
Story clues
- Lucia starts behind bars. Trailer 1: the first shot is Lucia in prison, answering “Bad luck, I guess” when asked why she is there. Highlighted by Kotaku and GamesRadar.
- One word, said twice. Trailer 1: over a voiceover about sticking together, both leads say “trust”. GamesRadar took it as the clearest sign the two are a couple.
- The prison pickup. Trailer 2: Jason collects Lucia as she walks out of prison. Kotaku said the warm moment between them is unlike anything the series had shown before.
- Jason’s Army past. Launch Trailer: Jason opens by talking about his time in the Army. GamesRadar read it as a hint that he did not leave on good terms.
- A call from prison. Launch Trailer: Jason takes a phone call from Lucia while she is still inside. TechRadar suggested the prologue may be told from his side; that is its guess.
- Lucia’s ankle monitor. Launch Trailer: in one scene Lucia wears an ankle monitor. TechRadar said this suggests she is still under supervision and that some footage comes from early in the story. GamesRadar spotted it too.
- Two hairstyles, two timelines. Launch Trailer: GamesRadar noticed Jason has long hair for most of the trailer and short hair in later shots, which could mean scenes from different points in the story.
- A possible flashback. Launch Trailer: Jason wades through water in tactical gear with two men behind him. TechRadar wondered if it shows his Army days.
- A good deed, rewarded. An Extended Look: when Jason pets a dog, an angel icon pops up. Kotaku guessed it is some kind of morality credit; Rockstar has not explained it.
Places
- Names on the signs. Trailer 1: GamesRadar read Kelly County, Catalan Boulevard, VCI airport, Vice Beaches, Port VC and the Keys, plus districts that appear to be called Stockyard and Downtown, from road signs and news tickers.
- Neighbourhood watch in Hamlet. Trailer 1: a social clip of an older woman holding two hammers carries a caption naming Hamlet. Spotted by GamesRadar.
- Swamp country. Trailer 1: an airboat scattering flamingos led GamesRadar to expect an Everglades style area. Rockstar later named the wetland region Grassrivers.
- A base jump over Vice City. An Extended Look: near the end, Lucia runs off a skyscraper and opens a parachute above the city. TechRadar said the switch to Jason that follows takes just a couple of seconds.
Vehicles
- Ninety seconds, dozens of vehicles. Trailer 1: GamesRadar listed jumbo jets, biplanes, seaplanes, hover boats, amphibious helicopters, monster trucks, jet skis, quad bikes and cruise ships among others.
- Tyres that matter. An Extended Look: shooting out a pursuer’s tyres can flip police cars. Reported by TechRadar.
- Helicopter wrecking ball. Launch Trailer: a helicopter swings a chained load through the city and smashes a row of windows. GamesRadar called it a very helicopter heavy trailer.
- Plane and ship stunts. Launch Trailer: Lucia climbs the wheels of a plane and Jason sneaks onto a large ship. Spotted by TechRadar.
Social media and parody
- Leonida’s viral feed. Trailer 1: GamesRadar picked out a “Leonida man” news story aping the Florida Man meme, a “RIP Rudi” memorial post, a woman dancing on a moving car tagged #have.a.vice.day, and two named groups, the Thrillbilly Mud Club and High Rollerz Lifestyle.
- Parody TV ads. An Extended Look: an ad for the Prairie sandwich box meal, a huge stack of meat that GamesRadar read as a fast food parody, and an ad for a medicine called Angstipan.
Music
Every trailer has its own song, and one of them doubles as a callback:
- Trailer 1: “Love Is a Long Road” by Tom Petty (GamesRadar).
- Trailer 2: “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters (GamesRadar).
- An Extended Look, 21:37: Phil Collins’ “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)” plays as Jason rides a lift (timestamp from GamesRadar). Kotaku and GamesRadar both linked it to Vice City Stories, where a virtual Collins performed “In the Air Tonight”.
- Launch Trailer: “Flower in a Hurricane” by Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Rockstar’s music page names Justice as the game’s official score composers.
The full song list, including all 14 tracks identified in An Extended Look, is in our GTA 6 trailer songs guide.
What we left out
We only list details that come from Rockstar’s official videos and were reported by a major outlet. Anything that traces back to leaked material is not included, and neither are casting rumours based on actors’ CVs. If an outlet later confirms a timestamp for one of the details above, we will add it.
