Ocean Beach

Ocean Beach is the southern district of the east island of Vice City, the large beach island where the game begins. GamesRadar+ describes Ocean Beach and its main road, Ocean Drive, as scaled down versions of Miami’s real tourist strip, and remembers jogging down the beach as the sun rises over the lighthouse.

Rockstar’s manual describes cruising down Ocean Drive as a serious night out, with a strip of neon hotels and bars and roller skaters along the beach front by day.

• Ocean Heights, a tall building on the south end that IGN and GameSpot list as a safehouse for $7,000 with a one car garage.

GamesRadar+ notes that Lance Vance’s house is here too, and lists it as one of the places the Hunter helicopter appears after you collect all 100 hidden packages.

GamesRadar+ counts 8 hidden packages in Ocean Beach. In general terms they are out on the wooden platforms and rocks off the southwest coast, around the lighthouse steps, near the medical center, under a bridge and on a rooftop you reach by helicopter or a stunt jump. IGN lists 8 rampages here, from a wooden dock south of the marina to the grassy area west of the lighthouse and the Ocean View Medical Foundation building.

Story missions

The story starts here. GameSpot’s walkthrough opens with the cutscene An Old Friend at the hotel. In The Party you change clothes and take Mercedes Cortez to the Pole Position Club, and the later mission Bar Brawl sends you to a spot close to the Ocean View Hotel.
